“Covid-19 should not stop us from creating beautiful photographs.” We asked our members to submit photographs with the theme: ‘Isolation’.

First Place

LIMINAL by Gabrielle Sungailaite

The model is wearing a mask in bed to signify that Covid 19 made us isolate from things and spaces that we would normally perceive as safe. The isolation has not just been physical, but also mental. Touching, exchanging, trusting usual surroundings has become difficult. Furthermore, this isolation made me realise that detaching from the rest of the world makes me feel like I’m isolating from my own self. At least I recognised how much of the outside world exists in my own self.

Second Place

Sunrise Solitude by Jessica Chen

There's something so incredibly serene about moments in solitude; with eyes closed, as the sun slowly bathed the treetops in a warm gold, this guy sure knew how to spend his mornings...

Isolation, Life Inside, Kyoka Seguchi.jpg

Third Place

Life Inside by Kyoka Seguchi

By framing my silhouette with the shadow of my window, I created a self portrait that gives the impression of the longing for nature and to be outside but also including the flower as a reminder of the importance of nature and to cherish the beauty and fragility of life, even as we continue life indoors.

A foolish adventure.

Beneath the Stars by Christiana Petrache

The picture I took represents the stellar unity and the distinctive connection between the stars that constitute Orion's Constellation.

From left to right, Sirius, Procyon, Aldebaran and Venus accompany Orion's Belt in its endless dance through the universe.

Solitude by Shawn Teo

‘A man can be himself only so long as he is alone, and if he does not love solitude, he will not love freedom, for it is only when he is alone that he is really free.’ by Arthur Schopenhauer

Window of Hope by Mithuna Maran

There was a beautiful time, when I took things for granted,

Little did I know, that they’d be the most wanted!

Meeting new people, shaking their hands, Touching wet grasses,

walking barefoot on sands.

Covid they said; Isolation - the only key,

Locked up in my room, since March 23,

But there is a little window, reminding me everyday,

A new life outside the window, that will come to me one day!

Painting by Nature by Aurora / 获取

This is a picture I took the first time out during isolation. It was a sunny day. The building were reflected in the river caressing by the weeds. Framed by blossoms and leaves, it is like a painting by god which is what makes the world beautiful
